- I think Bekele could break it, 2 or 3 more marathon . He could break it, no records are safe, they are there to be broken.
- He truly is one of the greatest of all time and I don’t say that lightly. But I think he is getting older and hasn’t been to consistent in the marathon. I dont think he will break the record probably a 2:03 If everything goes right. The record is just so hard to break.
I would love to be wrong and see a new world record and if anyone can do that it’s him.

- What a shame it didn't work out for him. I have a feeling NY will be the last time we see him race, or potentially today if he doesn't do NY. A glittering career, probably the greatest distance runner of all time, but marathon WR just wasn't to be.
- What a good race it was. I wish the best for Bekele, and to run a 2:06 after not running a marathon in two whole years is honestly incredible, especially at the age of 39. 39! I hope he continues to run and inspire, one of my favourite distance runners of all time.

- It seems to me that there's too much politics in Ethiopia that's why they are not letting Bekele represent their country in Olympics. What a waste 😣. Bekele should be pirated by other country if Ethiopia will continue refusing and wasting Bekele's talent.
